Actual progress!?

I am almost done with my book illustration paintings! Motivation/rationalization/excuse to finish it all by tomorrow: I am seeing my uncle tomorrow for Thanksgiving! He is a phenomenal mural artist and one of my biggest role models, and I am always pumped for the few times a year I get to see him and discuss art.  Most definitely a potential mentor for senior year.

Dracula!

My first real scratchboard piece! Done in Difate's awesome class.  This is the part where I say "oh wow, I'm totally going to use scratchboard all the time now!!" and then in about a year or so, realize I have done quite the opposite of that.

On Monday, he ate......

I made a crude test version of a book page for the first painting I finished for my Book Illustration assignment.  This project is turning out to be much less tedious than I anticipated, and I am really having a lot of fun with it.

I lied.

Wow, its been 7 minutes and apparently that was enough time for me to get ashamed of an empty blog.  So for now, I'll leave you with Sonja's first two projects.  I am quite satisfied with the both of these, but more so the masks.  These projects were done far before I came to realize the um...."unorthodox" nature of the class and its supervision.  Hope I said that nice enough.
A few more projects need to be done for her class, but I have not yet decided whether or not they are worth putting my all into.  Depends on how much time I have...eek

Hey, I got a blog! This means I'm hip....right? RIGHT!?

Just one more technological craze I have given into, and surely not the last.  But I figure this would be a good way to easily post my school progress, and also the "other artwork I make in my free time." (HAHA doubtful.) whilst describing my ventures and opinions surrounding it.  Oh enough with the generalizations.....welcome to my blog, I guess. huzzah.

I was about to start my actual first post when I realized that, in this current moment, this blog in itself is just another means of procrastination to stop me from working on the piles and piles of artwork I have to create within the next 13 days or so. Specifically for tonight: book illustration work.  Oil paintings for my rendition of The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle.  Fortunately I am almost done.  But I would be done-er if I stopped typing here and began working on that.  Soooo, peace out for now.  Artwork will be posted soon!
