Imagined Spaces!

William Low's environment assignment for Digital Painting.  I had a freaking blast with this.  It was my first time experimenting with painting environments, or digital painting for that matter, and I love it.  I've been all over deviantart over the past few weeks scrolling mindlessly through WIPs and tutorials of my favorite artists on the site, and it has helped quite a bit.
Because of this whole thing, I'm considering getting a Cintiq....hmm, worth 2 grand or not? Probably.  Yes, probably.

Oh and my oil painting of my faaaaavorite brother is coming out well.  Its for Kam Mak's class, and once I am done with the b/w layer, I will move onto color.

Mr. Compton and the Goose

Completed version of the previously posted black and white version.
18"x14" oil on wood

Pulp Magazine Cover

Approx. 12"x16" oil on illustration board
The colors got a little warped from the photograph...I'll take a new one eventually

A few Sonjas

A couple pieces from Sonja's Visual Self Expression class.  The top is my piece for the "independent project" assignment, and the bottom is a drawing of Kat that I am quite happy with.  Luckily I got a photo of it before I dumped oil paint all over it.

A couple pieces from AAS

Never got around to uploading these!  I did these in the spring 2010 semester. You know, that semester that sucked so much it made me want to quit art altogether?  HA. But yeah moving on.  I guess these two pieces are all I have to show for that hell of a school year, so here they are.

The first is an ink portrait of Neil Patrick Harris as Dr. Horrible. The second is an acrylic of Dom Monaghan as a monkey on that island where a lot of crazy s**t seems to go down.

I'm not particularly fond of the Dom one...It is not nearly up to par for me, and I am positive I could do a better job on it knowing the things I have learned in this current semester. But hey, I have to show it respect seeing as how it represents the iota of pride I was able to maintain during that horrid semester.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar

My favorite spread of my book illustration project! Oils on illustration board, somewhere around 25 or 30 inches long.

Oh and also, here is the black and white underpainting for a portrait project.  The color finish will be done this week, but I am kind of sad to have to go over the black and white version to get there :/

Actual progress!?

I am almost done with my book illustration paintings! Motivation/rationalization/excuse to finish it all by tomorrow: I am seeing my uncle tomorrow for Thanksgiving! He is a phenomenal mural artist and one of my biggest role models, and I am always pumped for the few times a year I get to see him and discuss art.  Most definitely a potential mentor for senior year.
